Sometimes, circumstances of the world drive me back

I didn't intend to take a summer vacation, but it turns out I did anyway. So I'm back now, with nothing terribly new to say. It's just that I saw something on Andrew today that I had to share (incidentally, Andrew is on vacation, too, and has turned the blog over to Dan Savage, who I love almost as much as I love Andrew himself. Read The Kid. I mean it.) So, without further ado:

"I found that if you made men more insecure about their masculinity, they displayed more homophobic attitudes, tended to support the Iraq War more and would be more willing to purchase an SUV over another type of vehicle," said Robb Willer, a sociology doctoral candidate at Cornell. Willer is presenting his findings Aug. 15 at the American Sociological Association's 100th annual meeting in Philadelphia.

This, aside from being the furthest thing from "news," is a good sign for the D. O. D., the Flyguy, and the Commander Pop. Less so for the Thor, the Falstaff . . . ahem.

I am a rotten person. Seriously. I come out of a three-month blog hibernation to gratuitously make fun of my friends. I don't know why you people even speak to me--since you sure as hell don't read me anymore, as I went quiet for a zillion years there.

There will be more to come, since I've got a backlog of things to link to and things I've wanted to say but just couldn't be arsed to get over here and link to or say them. Hockey's back--OSGOOD's back, for the love of Not Pete, and if you don't get why that's cracking me up, well, it's gonna be a long season--so I'll have things to say about that as games finally get played and we begin to see what the effects of the salary cap and ensuing talent distribution are. I may yet return to my Queen of the Road Trip days, as I've gotten offers of crash space from Boston, Minnesota, Kentucky, Ohio, and Chicago. I've entered into a Leather Pants Pact with Thalia. All in all, I'm keeping busy.

Even though you went quiet, I still checked in once a week or so, to see if you'd updated. :-)

Um excuse me! You were also offered crash space in NJ! Man I am feeling so unloved today - first the roommate thing and now this. I broke up with my boyfriend two days ago...cut me some slack, throw me a bone, make me feel loved.....

Hold Still Please
