We goin' to a ghost town this Motown
Listen, I know that technically the Gorillaz "Feel Good Inc." is overplayed. I just don't care. Really, I want to hear it every three minutes. I'm okay with that. I didn't even mind when I heard it on the classical station on the way to work today, so I'm truly not going to care that 89x has converted their entire playlist over to one song on constant repeat.
The sad thing? There's less sarcasm going on up there then you think.
I've really got nothing new to report in this space. I'm working on my monologue, learning as much as I can about water moccasin's and religious snake handlers.
I think I'm suffering from funk-induced writer's block, which hopefully I will kick shortly. Until then, expect a lot of waffle about pop songs and acting. Actually, I will need to kick the block in short order because I have a play-writing class starting in a few weeks. Inspiration, or at least, the ability to sweat blood and make it into words, is going to be rather necessary. So, all you out there--be interesting! I mean it!
Actually, I am working on something, in a sense. See, my plan for The Great Breakup was always that I would just take off. Leave town, preferably for someplace that required a passport and was on That Guy's list of "You couldn't pay me enough to go there" places. Sadly, my passport's expired and I have no money. (We'll not discuss, at this point, the grand irony of him hightailing out to Big Sky Country himself, because the urge to run him over with my car five times has finally passed and there's no need to invite it back.) Stuck here though I may be, I have gotten "If you need to get away for a while . . . " invitations from friends in five different states.
With that in mind, I'm going to work on reclaiming my crown as Queen of the Roadtrip. Labor Day weekend I'm off to Kentucky (I need a hick accent for the role, it's research) to visit with Commander Pop and Boop, I'm working out the details of Boston in January (best time to go to Boston), Chicago in February, who knows where the heck else. I'd like to get back to Stratford at least one more this season. I'd like to get out to Kalamazoo to visit Fed and Pusher. I may crash on Flip's couch and play videogames one weekend. I may crash at Doc's in Cincinnati and drink too much one weekend. Anyway, rest assured that I will keep you posted on any (mis)adventures I may encounter in the coming months.

Don't forget to include a shopping trip in NYC to purchase frivolous shoes and clothing! It will be nice this Christmas not spending money on the men in our lives....so let's buy ourselves something nice with the money instead :)
